We were all from radically different backgrounds and meeting for the first time. Speaking a smattering of Hindi, English, Urdu, and Bhoti, stopping periodically in the field for Namaz and cricket, feasting on three-course vegetarian dinners, mooching the occasional mutton biryani from hospitable villagers, for six days and nights we camped out in the midst of mind-blowing landscapes, documenting the vanishing biodiversity of the region.”
